Lifting families out of poverty, by creating ethical jobs in Africa
The current state of affairs
A whopping 42% of the people in Sub-Saharan Africa live on less than $1.90 a day. Meaning 42% are below the poverty line. Yes, change is coming and unemployment rates have been dropping yet, 70% of jobs are considered as vulnerable. What this means is that people are often faced with having limited access to social protection. On a daily basis they are faced with both low and highly volatile earning and may be forced to work in terrible and dangerous conditions.
Our Actions

Green Tree Botanics are a non-profit here to help provide ethical jobs for people from communities facing disadvantage.
Our staff have access to benefits that are often taken for granted including:
- A fair wage
- Holiday and sick pay
- A pension scheme
We also support the local community through projects.

One project we are very proud of is supporting is local maternity charity: Fondation Victoria.

We sponsor a local basketball team Heritage Matété in the township of Matété. We understand how closely sports and well-being activities are tied to mental health and community building.
